So does this spell the end of the laptop brick?It was new to me, but according to a writer for Apple Insider, GaN chargers mean that "use of the high-voltage GaN means more power can be transferred at a far higher efficiency than silicon, making them more suitable for this sort of application."This, in part, translates to a smaller overall package while offering higher output when needed. For newer laptops, this might be a possibility -- use the same charger for your phone and laptop -- one less thing to carry. It can also be used for those fancy USB hubs that can power multiple 4K displays, and a variety of other devices built around the USB standard.I'm an early adopter, so I'm all in, though it's probably too soon to know the long term durability of these.I don't know whether there is a net sustainability advantage.
